Comprehensive School Health (CSH) recognizes the common sense idea the "healthy children are better learners". 

Research has shown effective CSH actions make a major contribution to schools achieving their education and social goals.

The goals of a comprehensive approach are:

  • To promote health and wellness
  • To prevent specific diseases, disorders and injury
  • To intervene to assist children and youth who are in need or at risk
  • To help support those whoa re already experiencing poor health

The best school health approachs coordinate activities around an organized set of policies and procedures that are designed to protect, promote and improve the health and well-being of students and staff, thus improving a student's ability to learn.
