The Healthy School Network Timeline is a quick reference for both new and continuing Network members to maintain positive momentum and action on school inquiry questions.  Setting action goals each month will help school teams achieve positive results.

October - Phase I: Building Your Team

  • Introduce staff, students, parents and community partners to the Healthy Schools Network and the assessment and inquiry process.
  • Highlight the benefits to students of using a Comprehensive School Health approach
  • Create your Healthy School Team and have your first team meeting
  • Attend your Fall NPBS/HSN regional meeting as a team

November - Phase II: Assess      and      Phase III: Prioritize

  • Healthy School Team starts the school-wide assessment process using an Assessment Tool
  • Assess:  Examine your school's strengths and areas for improvement as they relate to the components of a healthy school
  • Prioritize:  Choose your area(s) of focus for improvement

December - Phase IV: Action

January - Phase IV: Action

  • Decide on the evidence you need to collect to measure student learning related to the inquiry question
  • Decide how you will collect the evidence and make it meaningful
  • Link your school inquiry question to one or more of the aspects of Healthy Living in the Healthy Living Performance Standards
  • Attend your second NPBS/HSN regional meeting

February - Phase  IV: Action

March - Phase V: Results

  • Collect student samples of work that demonstrate levels of learning on performance tasks used for assessment
  • Consolidate your inquiry question evidence of student learning and improvement

April - Phase V: Results

  • Healthy School Team members meet to plan for year end Network activities
  • Distribute Network responsibilities within the team
  • Prepare your school story board display for your regional NPBS/HSN Celebration

May - Phase V: Results

  • Write and submit your HSN School Case Study
  • Share your inquiry results with staff, students, parents, other interested educators and community partners
  • Attend your regional NPBS/HSN Celebration with team members

June - CELEBRATE and Reflect

  • Celebrate your school's learning and successes gained through your Healthy School Network Assessment and Inquiry process and use of formative assessment strategies
  • Reflect on your learning and plan for September
  • Receive your school's grant for completing the HSN requirements for the year
